The Gayle & Bill Cook Center for Entrepreneurship at Ivy Tech will host the Bloomington Startup Weekend competition on Nov. 18-20, in the student commons on Ivy Tech’s main campus. Startup Weekend is a 54-hour intensive where developers, business people and individuals with ideas can find out if their startup is viable for market.
Startup Weekend is for individuals with ideas, engineers, tinkerers, developers, marketers, business development specialists or simply startup enthusiasts.
On Friday, attendees will come together to share ideas and form teams. The teams work with mentors and advisors on Saturday and Sunday to build their products. Sunday evening, teams will make their pitches to a panel of judges who will provide feedback and choose a winner. The winner of the competition will receive free business services and be eligible to present at global Startup Weekend.
The event organizers include Marc DeHon of AirlineTrayAds.com and Craig Harvey of Cloud Transactions. Speakers include Steve Bryant of the Ivy Tech Cook Center for Entrepreneurship and Tim Tucker of Express Employment Professionals. Judges include Jim Silberstein of the Ivy Tech Cook Center for Entrepreneurship, A John Rose of Textillery Weavers, Bill Oliver of Oliver Winery, Vickie Temple Davison of Bloomington Hardware and Matthew Sooy from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Cost for individual attendance for all three days is only $50, including all meals. Students can attend all three days, with meals, for only $20.
