The Ivy Tech Corporate College in Bloomington will coordinate Disney’s Approach to Leadership Excellence program, an event sponsored by the Disney
Institute on Wednesday.

The event starts at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., costs $399 per person and includes all course materials. Corporate groups with five or more people may register for $399 per person as well.

“This program is designed to teach the philosophies of the Walt Disney company for creating vision, implementing vision and then creating an environment that allows more employees to buy into that vision and to keep those employees engaged and to carry out that vision,” said Dennis Maloy, executive director of the Ivy Tech Corporate College.

This is the first time the Leadership in Excellence program will be offered at Ivy Tech in Bloomington.

The program is for local individuals or corporate groups who wish to achieve more successful business and is one of seven programs from the Disney Institute aimed to achieve the same end.

Maloy said participants from as far away as Grand Rapids, Mich., are signed up for Wednesday’s program. There will also be guests from a variety of private sector companies from nonprofit organizations, but the program is also open to individuals.

Ivy Tech in Indiana has an exclusive contract with the Disney Institute to offer the Excellence in Leadership program, which was launched in fall 2011, to all 14 Ivy Tech Corporate Colleges throughout Indiana, which was launched in fall 2011.

The college offers courses that help students work in and develop a successful business environment, including computer skills, basic welding skills and manufacturing.

“This Disney Institute was another opportunity to broaden the array of professional development options that we could offer to citizens here in Indiana,” Maloy said.
