Ivy Tech pastry students to operate Crossing Bakery starting next week

BLOOMINGTON – Ivy Tech Community College-Bloomington baking and pastry students are opening and operating a small retail bakery kiosk, Crossing Bakery, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning July 8 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Crossing Bakery will be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for the rest of July.

“The purpose of the class is for students to gain experience in the operation of a retail bakery, as well as plan and conduct a promotional event for it,” said Jeffery Taber, Assistant Professor and Hospitality Program Chair. “This group of students is quite enthusiastic about the opportunity.”

Crossing Bakery menu items include cherry chocolate scones with salted caramel, cranberry orange walnut scones, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, blueberry muffins, assorted personal pies, whoopie pies, birthday cake whoopie pies, gluten free no bake cookies, brownies, and more.  Prices range from $1.25 to $3 each.

Crossing Bakery is located at 2088 S. Liberty Drive on the west side.
